Dangote Cement truck crushes BRT bus in Lagos, dozens injured

An auto accident involving a cement truck and a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicle in Lagos State on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 has left many passengers injured .

The fully-loaded Dangote Cement truck, owned by billionaire businessman, Aliko Dangote, reportedly skidded off the main carriageway to collide with the bus on the special BRT lane, according to the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA).
The accident happened on Tuesday morning at Asolo along Ikorodu road.

While visiting victims of the accident at the General Hospital, Ikorodu, the state's Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, three people were killed in the crash, while 58 others sustained different degree of injuries.

One victim was already dead on arrival while two died in the hospital due to the severity of injuries sustained.
Five of the injured victims were referred to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), while three others were taken to the General Hospital, Gbagada for further treatment.
The commissioner disclosed that the government would take full responsibility of the medical bills of victims, noting that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's administration is committed towards ensuring that Lagosians get the best health care services.
